National AGM and Conference

Certainly, our Annual General Meeting (AGM) holds all of the required business related attributes it must; but it is so much more! This annual meeting is where we gather as a network to share stories of success and struggle; problem solve and plan our future activities. The conference portion of our annual meeting brings us all together in one unified voice to celebrate, learn and communicate in person. Since the occurrence of the pandemic, we've also began hybrid meetings to include a virtual component that enables an even wider attendance to our in-person component.

Each year, we select a theme that is dear to IL at the time, then our AGM and Conference Planning Committee, in concert with our National Director and Board, plan the relevant activities, presentations and round table discussions that will be hosted at the event. At times, our AGM and Conference has moved around Canada, being hosted in various communities with a Member Centre. More recently, we have returned to a practice of hosting this event in Ottawa for many strategic reasons: namely, proximity to our federal government officials; availability of accessible venues; and its central location for travel of attendees.
